Eucharist Update: Return to the Common Cup

At the direction of our bishop and the House of Bishops, we will discontinue the use of disposable communion cups and return to sharing the common cup during Eucharist, beginning June 15, 2025. This change honors our tradition, strengthens our unity as the Body of Christ, and supports our commitment to environmental stewardship.

Please note: Receiving only the bread is considered full communion, and you are welcome to abstain from the cup if you are not comfortable. Intinction (dipping the bread) is not permitted under current guidelines.

We thank you for embracing this faithful step forward together. If you have questions, please speak with Lisa or a council/vestry representative.

🌟 Gospel Focus: Our service will center on the story of Jesus calling his first disciples, as told in The Message translation (Luke 5:1–11).“Push out into deep water and let your nets out for a catch.”

Migration with Dignity | Sunday, February 2 and Tuesday, February 11

The Episcopal Church calls on congregations to focus their efforts on protection and justice for persons who have migrated to the United States seeking safety and freedom. They are asking everyone to stand up for Gospel values and oppose and prepare for the incoming administration’s planned mass deportations. These deportations could have potentially devastating impacts on immigrant families and communities, including increased racial profiling, workplace and neighborhood raids, family separations, and the detention of vulnerable populations. They recommend creating or joining rapid response networks, advocating for immigrant rights, and contributing to legal aid organizations to address these concerns. Additionally, they invite Episcopal communities to participate in “Migration with Dignity Action Week” during the season of Epiphany, starting January 20, 2025, culminating in “Migration with Dignity Sunday.” Epiphany has chosen February 2, 2025. The Rev. Julie Luna will be a guest preacher this Sunday.

On Tuesday, February 11, at 6:30 PM, we will have a Zoom presentation of the Migration with Dignity initiative throughout the Episcopal Church in Minnesota. Please join us on Zoom (a link will follow in your email). We will provide you with a brief overview of the program and explore ways for Epiphany to engage in activities such as prayer vigils, protests, donation drives, educational events, and fundraisers.

Join us Sunday, August 4th at 10 am for the 2024 kick-off of Vacation Bible School (VBS). This summer, kids will grab their hard hats and head out to the construction site to discover that skyscrapers aren’t the only things that need a solid foundation. We’re all a work in progress. Life is a hard hat zone. But just wait until you see what God will do! Kickoff Sunday includes a bounce house.

VBS is open to anyone in the community, please invite your friends and family to join us in the festivities! On August 25, we will have the finale, God Loves You, and then participate in the Community Festival, which includes more carnival games, a bounce house and barbeque. Flyers and registration forms are available in the narthex. See you there!

We need your help in making this a great event. We are looking for volunteers to donate snacks, help with VBS activities, and run carnival games! If you would like to help, please contact the church office at 763-559-3144 or adminepiphany@msn.com.
